PHSC Fellows

Fellowship in the Postal History Society of Canada was created in 2017 to recognize members who have made lasting contributions to the Society. Fellows are presented with a certificate and silver medal, usually at the PHSC Symposium, and sign the PHSC Fellows Book. Nominations for new Fellowships are received from Members throughout the year, and may be directed to the President.


Justus (Gus) Knierim - 2017 Fellow

in appreciation of his services to the Society as Editor of the PHSC Journal and a long-time Director, and for his various contributions to the advancement of postal history.

Dr. Gray Scrimgeour - 2017 Fellow

in appreciation of his services to the Society as President and Vice President, and for his numerous contributions to the advancement of postal history through his writings, exhibiting and judging.

Dr. Robert C. Smith - 2017 Fellow

in appreciation of his services to the Society as a long-time member of the Executive and Editor of the PHSC Journal, and for his numerous scholarly contributions to the advancement of postal history.

Dr. Robert G. Leigh - 2018 Fellow

in appreciation of his services to the Society as Vice President, his role in the establishment of the PHSC Symposium and for his serious devotion towards the creation and continual improvement of the world’s leading postal history website and databases.

Peter J. Wiedemann - 2019 Fellow

in appreciation of his services to the Society as the first President of the Postal History Society of Ontario and later as Secretary-Treasurer of the PHSC, and Editor and Publisher of the PHSC Journal.

Stéphane Cloutier - 2019 Fellow

in appreciation of his services to the Society as Secretary-Treasurer and President, and to Canadian postal history as an exhibitor and national-level judge.

Roger F. (Hank) Narbonne - 2019 Fellow

in appreciation of his services to the Society as Secretary and Circulation Manager and a member of the Board, and to collectors as a full-time dealer of Canadian postal history material.

G. Douglas Murray - 2023 Fellow

In appreciation of his services to the Society as President, and for his contributions as a writer and a newsletter editor to the advancement of postal history.

David Hobden - 2024 Fellow

In appreciation of his service in spearheading three PHSC Symposia and as our President, Past President, Secretary and Treasurer, and for his outstanding early-military postal history exhibits, which have won top honours at national and international exhibitions.

Cimon Morin - 2024 Fellow

In appreciation for his three decades of service to Canadian philately as Librarian and Director of the Canadian Postal Museum and National Postal Archives, and for his prolific and widely-acclaimed research on the history of early postal services in Québec.

Kevin O'Reilly - 2024 Fellow

In appreciation for his achievements as an exceptional collector, researcher, author, and exhibitor of northern-Canadian postal history, and for his service to the Society as a member of the Board of Directors.
