Chris Green Stamps

I am delighted to be participating in the inaugural Postal History Society of Canada Symposium.

A lifelong collector, I am a full-time dealer in fine stamps, postal history, and ephemera, and operate Chris Green Stamps, Ottawa's only dedicated stamp store. I carry a worldwide stock of quality philatelic material, with a particular emphasis on Canada & British North America, the British Commonwealth, Germany, and France & Colonies. A graduate of the Queen’s University School of Business, I have also studied at the Otto Beisheim School of Management in Koblenz, Germany.

Societies and study groups are fundamental to encouraging our hobby, and I’m pleased to support a number of philatelic organizations in Canada and internationally. I'm honoured to serve as Vice-President of the Canadian Stamp Dealers Association, Director of the Postal History Society of Canada, and Publicity Chair of the ORAPEX Organizing Committee. I am a member of a number of specialist societies, including the American Philatelic Society, the British North America Philatelic Society, la Société d'histoire postale du Quebec, the Boer War Philatelic Society, the Transvaal Study Circle, the United States Philatelic Classics Society, and several others.

As a dedicated advocate for the preservation of Canada's heritage, I have been an invited speaker on the topics of monarchy, Canadian history, and philately, and have appeared in national media discussing antiques and historical memorabilia.

Personally, I collect the postal history of Stratford, Ontario, as well as a wide range of material pertaining to the Stratford Festival of Canada. I have a habit of accumulating books of all sorts with far more enthusiasm than my available space for them allows.

Taylor Stamps

Hi, I’m Rob Taylor of Taylor Stamps, I have just passed my 11 year anniversary of my 'Semi-Retirement' project. After 2 lifetimes of real work I ended up with my own company that although was lucrative took a tremendous amount of time and travel. I decided to scale back and do something I would enjoy and could work on when I wanted with the time I wanted to spend – I needed a 'semi-retirement' job. I was a lifelong closet' collector of Early Canada specializing in Pence, Large Queens, Admirals and Newfoundland and the Provinces. I thought I would enjoy something to do with stamps and selling them on this thing called eBay would allow me to work from home and put in the time when I wanted to. The Royal 2007 held in Toronto was my first major stamp show as a dealer and I now regularly have a table at the major shows in Canada. I specialize in (not too surprisingly) early Canada and the Provinces with stamps of all forms. I recently started again as a collector dipping my toe into this thing called Postal History that people have been talking to me about for years. I am collecting Chinguacousy Township in Peel County. I am currently a member of several local stamp clubs, RPSC, PSSC, BNAPS, a Director of the CSDA, and a member of the Vincent Graves Greene Expertizing committee. And last but not least I joined the PHSC early this year.

John Beddows

Over fifty years of having been seen at very many philatelic extravaganzas I find myself here. From stamp to stamp, cover to cover and then more of both. Many more to come I have been from the Atlantic to the Pacific in one year doing shows. This is not a real accomplishment but we were driving. Auctions and in some cases international stamp shows in of all places North Bay were exciting times. We all look back and maybe we should look forward. I am excited about my next estate, next auction, next stamp or cover. Life is great.

Longley Auctions

I began collecting in my youth and by 16 had migrated to postal history. I was inspired by my father and other dealers, such Allan Steinhart and Bill Coates. I was a vest pocket dealer to enhance my collection and by 18, Bill Coates allowed me to share a booth at local shows. I continued to sell part-time through university (U of T, 1989) and a career in environmental consulting. The birth of my daughter and the passing of Allan Steinhart, and the offer to handle his estate, made me jump to full time postal historian.

I operate Longley Auctions, specializing in postal history material. I've had the honour of selling a number of substantial collections (Steinhart, Dale-Lichtenstein, Harmer, Parsons, Rixon, Campbell, Palmer, Seminary of Quebec, and many more). I have had over 20 collections of Canadian postal history topics and have exhibited a collection of Uruguay (Gold, Grand, AAPE medal at Toronto), international Large Vermeil at Malaga. I've published a number of books (meter catalogue, Caspary Canada, etc) and see my auction catalogue as another means of cataloguing Canada's postal history. I collect postal guides and postal related items (Rosback perforating machine, for example). I am married and have three children, and live in Waterdown, Ontario. I am proud to serve on the organizing committee for this show and hope you have a great time.
